Unity Festival and Blog
Still having some trouble getting this blog to show up in the weblog page so I guess I should post a new post and see if that makes any difference since the feed is showing up at feedburner, not a lot more we can do other than scream.
On a positive note the Unity Festival set to occur in November 2009 at Murwillumbah Showgrounds at the Branding Rail now have an Expressions of Interest page set up ready to go as soon as we add it to the menu and set up an appropriate email address to recieve the expressions.

Back Home Again
OK back at the MCC after a week of bad health.
This week will be a little truncated but we should be able to design a plan for the Unity Festival website plus an image slideshow for the Belly to Big School 2009 event which was a huge success.
Currently just testing the PHP script that converts the blog into HTML to display on the website. One parameter has been changed so that the weblog page displays only the latest two entries.
Hmm! Not displaying this entry, better save it again. See what happens. cha t Thank you

Found out at last
OK Folks
Well, we've finally found out what is stopping us from accessing the MCC website from the MCC when we can access it from everywhere else. In fact, I just uploaded 5 files from home and then tested them.
As it turns out, it's the web host firewall that's blocking us for whatever reason. All we need to do is to get them to fix it up.
Kewl t Thank you

Web Server Outage
Wish I knew what it was. No clues on the network forum, funny thing is I tried the same thing myself as they recommended and I know nothing about networks. Trace RT, in case your interested.
Anyway I can access the MCC website via browser and ftp at home and other places but not at work, I think it's just gotta be something local to the MCC network.
Thanks for the pumpkin, C U all Wednesday t
Thank you

From the web developer's desk
OK, so the new drop down menu was a little too long for some screen resolutions and a few items went offscreen, necessitating scrolling down to access them. Not good form.
To alleviate this we created a new tab in the main menu called "Other Services" and shifted all "non welfare" services such as the hire of office space etc into the new menu.
This (of course) created a minor problem with the menu display being wider, so rather than make the text smaller,or shift the menu to the left, it seemed pertinent to create a "Centre Information" tab and include all sundry links in there.
Q. Why didn't we put the sitemap page into the Centre Information tab?
A. Because some old browsers don't process the CSS we used to create the drop menu. All tabs can go to their own "access" page so that anyone with an old browser can still access any item in the drop menu. The sitemap also gives these people instant access to any area of the website.
Also, the sitemap is easily visible to permit search engines to index all of our onsite links without difficulty.
The wider dropdown menu then created another minor problem, that of the Centre Information drop menu dissapearing behind the flash at the top of the RH division. This time it was a Flash problem (not CSS). Easily repaired by adding a param attribute value pair to the html displaying the flash embed.
Oh yeah, we figured it was a good idea to remove all references to the Youth Week page now that Youth Week is over.
Thought we might as well drop a Bookmark Page on the sitemap since we were already editing it to reflect the new menu layout.
Next we need to work on updating the Links page to include a thank-you to all sponsors not already included. Might put a bookmark page script on the home page later too.

Was experiencing a problem with dropnav disappearing behind the slideshow. I thought it was a flash problem. Turned out to be a CSS problem. Fixed now. Easy peasey.
